On February 20th, the Milan All Weather Riders raised more than $1,600 to benefit the Michael Blanchette Scholarship Fund through their Annual Poker Run. The ‘Run’ began at the OHRV parking area on Chickwolnepy Rd.; traveled approximately 31 miles where it lead to Success Pond. It was a spectacular day with many snowmachines, participants and volunteers from NH and beyond. The top 24 hands were awarded prizes, all which were donated by local businesses. John Beaudoin drew the best hand - a straight flush. John left with the $250 cash purse that was donated by JML, Ray’s Electric and the Milan All Weather Riders. Turkey Williams 4 of a Kind earned him a $100 gift certificate to Labonville’s. Jed Vallee won a $90 pair of mitts and Jay Vallee won $90 gloves, both donated by Alpine Machine Co. Carol Pacheco won $50 of oil from Bond Auto. John Beaudoin (again!) won $50 oil translube and spark plug case from Jericho Motorsports. Alex Goudreau took home a $50 value polish and charger from Motorcycle/Snowmobile Service. Justin Swift won a $50 gift certificate to Maureen’s Boutique. David Pike and Debbie Goupil earned $25 Absolute gift certificates. Dwight Armstrong won a $25 socket set from Kelley’s Auto Parts. Jericha Turgeon won a $25 gift certificate from All Season Sports. Jackie Marois won a $25 gift certificate to Sinibaldi’s Restaurant. Wanda Pike and Lefty Theberge both won $25 gift certificates to the Berlin IGA Foodliner. Four $25 gift certificates from IRS Sports went to Brenda Croteau, Carol Beaudoin, Jerry Dorval and Bonni Tennis. Moe Croteau, Mickey Poirier and Colette Bertin each won $20 in scratch tickets – a donation from Bob’s Variety. Ben Monk won a $20 gift certificate to Floral Designs by Raegan. And the final prize of a Berlin Mills Variety and Sherwin Williams certificates went to Melissa Devoe.
To greet the riders and visitors at the last stop, the Milan All Weather Riders Snowmobile Club hosted a cookout on the Pond in front of host Bobby Marois’ camp. The day was a successful due to the donations of many of our generous local individuals and businesses including Seventh Street Graphics, the Great North Woods One Stop and Hampshire Highland Alpacas, among others.
